No papal apology in Canada Indigenous abuses ‘shameful’
The comments follow the discovery of unmarked graves of 215 children at a boarding school that had been run by the Catholic Church.

For more than a century, Indigenous children were forcibly taken away from their families to residential schools created by the Canadian government and administered by churches.
History of Residential Schools
Residential schools operated in Canada for more than 160 years, with upwards of 150,000 children passing through their doors.

Things with a longer history tend to be more precious. However, this common sense doesn't seem to hold when it comes to the Indigenous peoples in Australia, the first peoples on the land.

Canada is unqualified to criticize China. They have to reflect on their own misdeeds on human rights, Zhao Lijian, Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson, told a press conference on Wednesday, responding to Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau's remarks over topics of China's Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region.
