The former cavalry officer had a five-year affair with Princess Diana while she was married to Prince Charles.
Royal watchers have speculated the 58-year-old Major may have fathered the Prince – who shares his ginger hair and badboy streak.
Now Hewitt has addressed the rumours – denying Harry is his son.
Diana confessed in a BBC Panorama programme in 1995 that the pair had had an affair.
She and Prince Charles separated in 1992, divorcing four years later.
In an interview with Channel Seven's Sunday Night in Australia, the former Life Guards officer was asked: "Are you Harry's father?"
He replied: "No, I'm not."

The host asked him: "Why does that keep being repeated?" He said: "It sells papers".
Hewitt previously claimed his affair with Diana started after Prince Harry was born.
Diana's former butler Paul Burrell told the same programme he had more letters from the Princess that the world has never seen.
Hewitt has previously described the couple's five-year relationship as "exciting and sexy".
In a magazine interview he said: "The situation that Princess Diana and I were in made it exciting and sexy because it was risky.

He published a book in 1999 about their romantic liaison, and was criticised for saying he would sell love letters Diana wrote to him – more than 60 penned between 1989 and 1991 – during their affair.
